my story
Believe it or not, I had a love-hate relationship with my real estate business for years.
Like so many other agents, I got into real estate because of my love for people and pretty houses, but I was quickly slapped in the face with the harsh reality that those things, a successful business did not make.
I even retired my license for a while! There were things I loved…the sense of purpose I felt with my clients, the value I was giving, but there were other things that didn’t sit well with me.
For one, I’m an introvert, so being told that the secret to success in real estate involved picking up the phone and calling strangers or knocking on doors was a hard no.
I also learned that “making my own schedule” actually meant I was on call 24/7, and not being able to fully disconnect was draining my batteries, making me feel like a failure in my work and in my family.
But when I became a single mom of two small kids, I had no choice but to figure out a path to success in real estate that worked for me! What I learned is that you can be wildly successful in this business without doing any of the archaic, typical activities that the real estate industry swears by, like cold calling and door knocking.
Instead, I went back to my roots…my master’s degree in mass communication and public relations, and began building my brand-based business.
One built on exceptional communication and professionalism, one that was aligned with my strengths and values, and one that attracts my ideal clients to me rather than chasing after them.
What I have come to understand is that we are happiest and most productive when we spend the majority of our time doing what we love and what we do best.
And now I’m on a mission to teach other women how they can create the same kind of balance in their lives and business. A great first step is checking out my private podcast.
